Commercial & Residential Septic Repair in Ashwaubenon

Elite Septic Fox River provides Ashwaubenon septic repair for both businesses and homes on private onsite systems. We diagnose the fault (pump, float, alarm, baffle, line or drain field) and repair it, keeping the disruption to a home or business small where we can.

Commercial

Commercial Septic Repair

A business connected to the village sewer main has no septic system for us to repair. One that isn't depends on a private system that may be sized for heavier use than a house.

What goes wrong in commercial systems

  • High or uneven flows from staff restrooms, break rooms or wash-down areas overload the tank and push solids into the drain field.
  • Grease and food waste from kitchens and break rooms build up scum faster than in a home.
  • Pumps and controls cycle more often and wear out sooner.
  • Missed service because no one on site owns the system.

How we handle it

  1. Diagnose: pump the tank, inspect baffles and filters, test pumps, floats and alarms, and check the soil absorption area.
  2. Explain the fault, the fix and what it will cost, all before the work begins.
  3. Settle the timing with you, including roughly how long restrooms or drains may be out of use.
  4. Repair, test and report the service to Brown County.

Service contracts

Wisconsin requires the owner to keep a service contract with a certified septage servicing operator when any part of a system must be serviced at intervals of 12 months or less (SPS 383.52). Many commercial systems fall into that category. Whatever interval your contract sets, the visits follow it, and Brown County gets our report after each one.

Residential

Residential Septic Repair

For homes, Ashwaubenon septic repair covers the same faults at a smaller scale: corroded baffles, a clogged effluent filter, a failed mound pump or float, a separated inlet line, or a saturated drain field. We find the cause first, so you aren't paying to treat a symptom. See septic repair for the common faults and fixes.

Key Differences

Whose Pipe Is It? Sewer Lateral or Septic

If your building is connected to village sewer, a backup isn't a septic problem, and the village splits the responsibility at the property line. Repairs to the sewer lateral between the building and the property line are the owner's; from the property line to the main, they're the utility's (Village of Ashwaubenon, lateral responsibility). So a blockage on your side of the line is a job for a plumber, and one past it is the village's to fix.

The village also urges owners to look into two safeguards: a backwater valve, which stops sewage in the system outside from backing up into the building, and homeowners insurance that covers sewer backups. Its own insurer doesn't pay for cleanup after a backup unless the village was negligent (Village of Ashwaubenon, sewer back-up). We'll tell you on the phone if it sounds like a sewer issue rather than a septic one. Ashwaubenon septic repair is for properties with a tank, pump chamber, mound, drain field or holding tank on site.

Local Rules

Brown County Plan Review for Business Sites

When a repair on a business site turns into a replacement, the new system's plans need review, and for many commercial designs that review can happen at the county. DSPS lists Brown County as a designated agent that can review mound, at-grade and pressurized in-ground systems, plus non-pressurized in-ground systems for commercial buildings, each up to 1,000 gallons a day (Wisconsin DSPS, designated agents). If your building's design flow is higher than that, or the system is a type not on the list, ask the county early how its plans will be reviewed.

Short of a whole new system, swapping out a tank or soil absorption component may still need a sanitary permit; we'll confirm before work starts. Commercial or residential, the system also stays on the three-year inspection schedule every Wisconsin county keeps (Wisconsin DSPS).

Local Context

Outside Ashwaubenon's Sewer Network

Ashwaubenon covers about 12.8 square miles beside Green Bay (Wikipedia: Ashwaubenon). The village utility maintains about 110 miles of sewer main and four lift stations, and its wastewater is treated at NEW Water (Village of Ashwaubenon, Water & Sewer Utility). Ashwaubenon septic repair is for the homes and business sites that sit outside that network.

FAQ

Ashwaubenon Septic Repair FAQ

Can you repair a business system without shutting us down?

Often, yes. Many repairs take hours rather than days, so talk the timing through with us when you book.

Who is responsible for a septic system in a leased building?

Usually the property owner, but leases vary. The county holds the owner responsible for maintenance. Check your lease, and tell us who looks after the system when you book.

Our alarm went off overnight. Is it an emergency?

Treat it as one: cut water use and call (920) 241-6573. See also mound system repair if your site uses a mound.

Do you need a permit for every repair?

No. Baffle, filter and pump replacements usually don't. Replacing a tank or drain field typically does.

Can you service several buildings on one schedule?

Yes. We'll line up the visits for all of them and send Brown County a report for each system we service.
